Poems by Lydia Stefanovska - Ohrid, Macedonia

TRAINS HAVE MERCY

Everything  passes
only the trains have mercy
to repeat crossings
of names written on the luggage

a habit
to stay wavy
with confessions
for poured coffe when caressing

And a silent commitment
to see us off on the road
where we are longed for
by the lost pieces

***
A SCREAM

In the room of anxiety
you put on your naked body
the raincoat
And while leaving
you tell
about the sin
of the apple

In a lair of dried hay
to be awakened
by the scream
of hair turned grey

***
ON A BAD DAY

On a bad day
you shall see a reflection
unknown in the mirror
the tiles in the kitchen
you give shape and a name

On a bad day
with a Ravel's rhapsody
the clean space
changes the colour
and you can see the darkness
covering you with a blanket
